All the Trees' Leaves were Eaten by Locusts

I have a grammatical confession;
I believe some would call it an error.
I think that this is needless aggression,
and that I should not need live in terror.

For you see, I like to use passive voice
even though spell check tells me I am wrong.
When I use this it is a conscious choice;
would spell check dare correct an artist's song?

Through the years this form has been neglected.
I find it a great way to shift focus.
The important word can be respected:
all the trees' leaves were eaten by locusts.

What matters the most can be emphasized,
and actor not needlessly recognized.
