I See the Light

I had set an alarm for 8 AM
but I woke without hearing it screaming
Light streamed in underneath the curtain's hem
I panicked! How long had I been dreaming!

Clearly I had slept through all my alarms
I'd wasted Sunday as I often do!
Sleeping in always causes so much harm;
in a few hours the day would be through...

I looked at the clock and I saw the truth
"Oh... that's right... the sun rises at seven"
Yes! I had beaten my alarm forsooth!
with rest and free time... I was in heaven!

I got up and started my to-do list
Grateful for the Sunday I had not missed
